Night Research Assignment

Learning Targets

  • Provide background context about the Holocaust prior to reading Night by Elie Wiesel.
  • Introduce NoodleTools, and databases for research and citations.

 

Start by creating a NoodleTools Project

You will have two notecards for each type of source.

For the direct question notecard, follow these directions:

  1. Find the article from the source and cite it in NoodleTools
  2. Create a new notecard for this source
  3. Notecard Title should be topic listed after Notecard #
  4. Copy & Paste the question under the direct quotations section
  5. Type the answer to the question under the paraphrase or summary section.
  6. Under the "My Ideas" section, write how what you learned can enhance your understanding of the memoir.

For the free choice notecard, follow these directions:

  1. Find an article from the source that you think will enhance your understanding of "Night"
  2. If this is not from the exact article on your first notecard, create a new source
  3. Create a new notecard either for existing source or new one. Title it with the research topic. 
  4. Copy & Paste an important statement/quote etc. from the article into the direct quotation section
  5. Paraphrase the direct quotation portion as if you were using it in an essay. Go to the In-text Reference if you need help or suggestions.
  6. Under the "My Ideas" section, write how what you learned can enhance your understanding of the memoir.

DO NOT use your school log in info. Log in using by clicking the Google icon on the bottom left. Choose your school Google account.

If this is your first time, you might have to pick SM South and fill out a couple of questions.

Create a new project and sources from there.
